Xinhua News Agency is China’s state news agency as well as a global one. Founded in 1931 and headquartered in Beijing, Xinhua has nearly 13,000 employees in its over 220 domestic and overseas bureaus, with 184 of them located outside the Chinese mainland.

Xinhua has established a global news-gathering network and a multilingual,multimedia and multi-platform news dissemination system. As an all-media organization centered on news agency operation, it also engages in a wide range of media services.

Xinhua provides various news products featuring text, pictures, charts, social media content, and audio and video products in 15 languages for more than 8,000 news organizations around the world. It has signed news exchange and cooperation agreements or memoranda of understanding with mainstream media outlets and government institutions from over 130 countries and regions.

As a leading media think tank focusing on public policies and international affairs, Xinhua has conducted strategic, forward-looking and preparatory researches and strengthened cooperation with think tanks around the world. It led in the establishment of the Belt and Road Studies Network (BRSN). Notably, over 140 think tanks have joined this network as members.
